Recapping Family Arts Day 2026

One hundred years ago, Mary Coolidge founded Sandwich Home Industries with a vision of celebrating and supporting the talented artists and craftspeople of Center Sandwich. She recognized that the community was rich with creativity and believed local artisans deserved a place to showcase and sell their handcrafted work. That vision continues to inspire us today.

To celebrate this remarkable milestone, Sandwich Home Industries hosted Family Arts Day on the Green on July 25, 2026. The weather was perfect, and the Green was filled with laughter, imagination, and creativity as people of all ages explored the joy of making art together.

Ten hands-on art stations invited children, parents, grandparents, and friends to create side by side. Activities included drawing a live chicken, nature printing, clay exploration, weaving small wall hangings, abstract painting and mark making, dinosaur paper crafts, blue nature crowns, cyanotype sun prints, and a fun photo booth. A banner featuring inspiring quotes from reminded visitors of the many ways art enriches our lives.

The day was made possible by the generosity of 22 artists and volunteers, who shared their time, talents, and enthusiasm. One six-year-old summed up the day perfectly when he exclaimed, “This is the best day of my life!” It was a joyful reminder of the power of creativity to bring people together.

Family Arts Day was organized by Gilly Babb, Susan Rozelle, and Lauri Landry. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the artists and volunteers who made this special centennial celebration possible:
